The transport sector of John Keells Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerate, partnered with the University of Moratuwa for the 11th consecutive year, to organise an English immersion camp for the undergraduates of the Department of Transport and Logistics Management.

The objective of the programme was to develop the knowledge and skills of undergraduates by providing them the opportunity to build on skills such as English communication, team work and confidence building that will in turn enhance their employability in the corporate sector.

The 5 day total Immersion Camp was attended by 120 first year students, while the transportation sector also sponsored a range of performance based scholarships for undergraduates of the Department of Transport and Logistics Management of the University of Moratuwa, which were awarded on the 28th January 2020, at Cinnamon Lakeside.

The scholarship programme supports the tertiary studies of the undergraduates and enables a multitude of attractive career choices whilst expanding a much-needed resource base of professionals for the country’s growing transportation industry.

To date, over 700 undergraduates have taken part in the total Immersion Camp and over 260 scholarships based on both merit and equity have been offered, bringing the total value of the partnership with the University of Moratuwa to over Rs. 2 million annually.
