SLT-MOBITEL, the ultra-high speed fibre broadband services provider in Sri Lanka has joined hands with the Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) to launch 25th edition of the SLTMOBITEL Speedup Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb. This undertaking of the renowned motor race by SLT-Mobitel will be conducted for the sixth consecutive time. The upcoming event was announced during a press conference which was held jointly by SLT-MOBITEL and SMSC at the SLT main auditorium recently.
The racing spectacle will comprise of 16 motor cycle events and 17 motor car events that will face an uphill course covering a distance of 600 m, performed in three stages. The Bike Race will be held on 27th February and the Car Race will take place the following day, on 28th February, 2021. The event will be held under strict conditions adhering to all guidelines issued by the health authorities to ensure the safety of all stakeholders
The event, which is being held under the theme ‘SLTMOBITEL Speedup’ is regarded as yet another initiative through which SLT-MOBITEL aims to support and empower the local sports segment and take it up to the next level of their categories, with motor racing being one of those entities in particular. The thematic highlight of this event being “SLTMOBITEL Speedup” was instigated in tandem with SLT-MOBITEL’s ultra-high speed broadband internet experience that the company brings to its customers through its superior Fibre technology.
The SLTMOBITEL Speedup Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb is a national championship event which has been functioning under the approval of the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS), the governing body for motor sports in Sri Lanka. Motor and bike racing enthusiasts from across the island will no doubt get to experience a taste of Sri Lankan motor sports at its finest.
